Flood Maps of the Future

ehfloodmap_complete.jpg

Using Google Earth satellite imagery and NOAA data on worst-case scenario future sea-level rise, artist Scott Bluedorn creates a “future map” of the east end of Long Island as it could appear in the year 2100. Towns and hamlets are renamed, and new islands have formed as a result of ocean breaching. This novel archipelago is an exercise in imaginative forecasting. Data for flood maps can be found on the NOAA site here.
